Driving Two Metal-Mouths

Tuesday morning we arrived at school and the students realized they had walked into the senior prank.  They took every single desk from upstairs - the entire Upper School - and stacked them in the music room downstairs.  They put candy in some.  There were kazoos in every locker.  To one particular child, they left a bull horn in his locker, knowing full well he would use it.  One teacher's room was filled with frogs (plastic), one with pink balloons (she's pregnant), googly eyes all over the science room.  There were surprises everywhere.  The best was the math teacher's room.  She's very no-nonsense.  On her white board, the seniors just wrote apology notes.  Caroline's fit bit showed an increased number of steps that day as they had to bring all the desks back upstairs.

Caroline had a big day on Tuesday, filling her mouth with metal.  Wax became her best friend.  She maintained a regimen of Tylenol-Advil every four hours.  Henry took to calling her metal-mouth which is slightly ironic considering he says it with a mouth full of metal himself.  When I told Caroline, Be careful what you wish for, she said she wanted the end product of straight teeth.  Her lips are still swollen, but eventually it'll all peter out and she'll forget she has them.  Only "before" shots are allowed to be shown.  She's still super cute with her braces.

Henry has been asking to drive us to school in the mornings.  He's relentless.  Persistent.  Stubborn.  So I gave in one morning.  I saw an arm gripping the handlebar in my periphery.  We made it and he only had to back up once to get us in the parking spot correctly.

Driving with Henry is somewhat fun for me.  There are all these roads around town that I've wondered where they go.  Now, with Henry at the wheel, we go explore.  Since he's driving, I get to look around.  We've found some very pretty neighborhoods.  We've found country roads with nowhere to turn around.  I've been amazed how often we reconnect with a familiar road.  It's been the best part of driving for me!  Henry accomplished hanging one arm out the window.  Going 25.  Near our house.

Our cold showers lasted until Thursday evening.  That invigorating feeling had lost is luster (to those who felt it in the first place).  We were hoping to get a tankless gas water heater, which delayed the process.  Several plumbers came out and it was determined our house has too many windows.  There was nowhere to vent it.  They were able to push a 50-gal tank under the house and the man set the temperature higher than standard, so the showers are now HOT!  No one is complaining and we all exit the bathrooms pink all over.

At Chapel on Friday, they had the SCACS recognition, Josiah for his artwork.
The play rehearsals are ramping up to warp speed.  The teacher in charge had her father come on Saturday.  After watching the play, he told Josiah that he was really good, like other actors he's seen on TV.  That was a big compliment.  I am so excited for the play.  Even though I've seen it so many times in rehearsal, I love watching it.  Caroline will kill me if I give even the remotest of a spoiler, so I've been keeping mum.  But I do have pictures.  And I will share when the time is right.
